Retake Your Morning

One of the best things you can do to rejuvenate your body and get your day off to a good start is improve your morning routine. In Chinese Medicine there is a principle that a day is just a microcosm of a year, in that you have the morning which is similar to the Spring, then the day heats up in the middle of the day which is like summer and the night is like winter. In our gym one of the things we have implemented is the Yearly Cycle and on this Yearly Cycle we do a Spring Cleaning every year. Part of the Spring Cleaning is improving your morning routine. Below are three tips to take back your morning.
1) Mindset - Step one in your morning routine is to make sure you do something to get your mind in the right place. This could be prayer, reading something inspirational, meditation, or listen to something educational/inspirational. The goal is to get your mind into a positive peaceful place first thing in the morning.
2) Move Your Body - A body in motion tends to stay in motion. First thing in the morning do something to get your body moving. This could be your actual workout or it could be stretching, taking a walk, or doing some bodyweight exercises like squats, pushups, and situps.
3) Nutrition - Make sure to eat a good breakfast. What you eat for breakfast influences your blood sugars and brain chemistry(mood) for a good portion of the day so make sure to eat a healthy balanced breakfast and to have some water.
