True Colors
Sep 08, 2017
Last week I was cooking broccoli and carrots and I was reminded of something I have taught in nutrition for a long time. Different colors of foods impact you body in different ways. For example, green foods nourish your liver and gall bladder, while orange foods help to balance your blood sugar and build strength.
There is also a deeper level of this in that when you apply heat and cook these foods the colors of the broccoli and carrots actually get brighter and more vibrant. This is letting you know that when you cook these foods that the nutrients levels actually increase as you see the colors getting brighter.
I was also reminded of a Bible verse that says when the heat or pressure is on you find out what is really in your heart. You could say that your true colors come out. Most people don't think about it but we associate emotions with colors. We say things like you are green with envy or red with anger.
When people are under pressure or in the heat you will find out their true colors. Maybe you said you were going to eat better, start exercising, saving money, or whatever but when the heat comes what colors do you see? Do you stick with what you said you were going to do?
Right now we are in the summer time which is a time of heat and pressure. If you are under pressure you may see your true colors coming through, which can be good or bad. If this is the case and something comes out that you don't like then it is an opportunity to make some corrections. Ideally you want to get to the place where like the broccoli and the carrots you only get better when the heat is on. You can get to a place where heat and pressure only make you shine brighter.
